Test Preparation
The SAT exam helps colleges assess
students coming from different backgrounds on a level
playing field. Tests are generally taken by high school
students or graduates wishing to progress to higher
education, though they are available to anyone. Test results
of applicants are provided to colleges and universities
identified by the student. Although admission criteria to
these universities also includes GPA (grade point average), teacher
recommendations, and participation in extracurricular
activities, some colleges have a threshold score that
automatically qualifies or disqualifies a candidate for
admission.

Likewise, the TOEFL exam assesses a student's proficiency in
English, when that is not their first language. This exam is
required by most U.S. colleges in order to be accepted as an
international student.
